Alimosho Council Chairman Challenges Lagos Assembly … Claims ‘I Was Suspended for Refusing to Surrender Iyana-Ipaja Market’

The embattled Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, has accused the Lagos State House of Assembly of suspending him due to his refusal to hand over control of the Iyana-Ipaja Market to Ejigbadero, an alleged proxy of the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.

Addressing his supporters at the council secretariat, Hon. Sulaimon downplayed the suspension, calling it mere “social media talk.”

According to the Lagos State House of Assembly, the suspension was enforced due to Sulaimon’s alleged non-compliance, defiance, and resistance to following the legislative body’s directives.

Following the suspension, the House, under Speaker Obasa’s leadership, ordered that Alimosho’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Akintunde Olabode, temporarily take over the leadership of the council.

However, Hon. Sulaimon strongly rejected the Assembly’s move, dismissing his suspension as nothing more than online rumors.

Initially, the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government Affairs issued a letter instructing Mr. Olabode to assume the role of Chairman. However, a subsequent letter halted this action, citing the need for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s ratification of the suspension before it could be enforced.
