Kano Governor Approves ₦71,000 Minimum Wage for Civil Servants

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has approved a new minimum wage of ₦71,000 for state civil servants, set to begin in November. This wage adjustment, announced on the governor’s verified social media account, is projected to increase the state’s monthly salary expenditures by ₦6 billion, with an additional ₦7 billion for Local Government Councils.

In the announcement, Yusuf emphasized his administration’s dedication to improving workers’ welfare and raising living standards, stating, “In line with our commitment to social justice and enhancing the quality of life for our workers, we have approved ₦71,000 as the new minimum wage in Kano State.”

Following the promotion of 20,737 teachers, the governor noted that an additional ₦340 million has been allocated to increase their salaries. He also commended the state’s minimum wage implementation committee for its exceptional efforts in carrying out this initiative.
