FG, Zamfara Partner on Mining Development – Alake

The Federal Government and Zamfara State have announced plans to collaborate on advancing the mining sector. Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, stated that the partnership aims to boost economic growth by tapping into the state’s rich mineral resources.

Alake highlighted the importance of harnessing Zamfara’s mining potential to create job opportunities and improve revenue generation. The collaboration is expected to enhance sustainable mining practices and attract local and foreign investment into the sector.

The Federal Government has pledged to collaborate with Zamfara State to harness its mineral resources for economic development, as announced by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development (MSMD). During a meeting with Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Dele Alake, emphasized Zamfara’s significance in Nigeria’s mining sector and the need to address obstacles hindering its growth.

Dr. Alake highlighted Zamfara as one of Nigeria’s most resource-rich states, particularly in solid minerals, stressing the importance of responsible exploitation to ensure that revenues benefit both the state’s citizens and the wider Nigerian population.

Governor Lawal explained that the visit aimed to enhance cooperation between the federal and state governments, particularly in overcoming security challenges and improving infrastructure to attract investment in the mining sector.

Recent federal efforts to create a safer mining environment in Zamfara include the elimination of key banditry leaders and ongoing security operations to make the state more appealing to investors.
