Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with other regions to promote development and economic growth for the benefit of its residents. Sanwo-Olu made this statement during a courtesy visit by the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, at the Lagos House in Marina, accompanied by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group.
Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Prime Minister Mitchell’s leadership and emphasized the need for increased African-Caribbean partnerships in key areas such as arts, culture, entertainment, tourism, and infrastructure development. He highlighted the cultural and historical connections between Africa and the Caribbean and expressed a desire to enhance collaboration, including exploring opportunities in travel between the regions.
Sanwo-Olu also commended Dangote for the successful completion of the Dangote Refinery in Lagos, describing the project as a bold step toward Nigeria’s economic progress, with long-term benefits for the country.
Prime Minister Mitchell, in his remarks, emphasized that the visit was a continuation of discussions on trade and investment initiated during Sanwo-Olu’s visit to Grenada the previous year. He praised Nigeria’s achievements in agriculture, fashion, music, and cultural heritage and expressed interest in improving logistics for the movement of goods and people between the two nations.
The Prime Minister’s entourage, including his children and aides, visited Nigeria for the first time during this trip.
