Police save a Man who was poisoned over a ₦1.2 million debt

After informing Delta State Police Command that he had just consumed poison and was ready to die, officers arrived to save him.
Chicken vendor Alozie John nearly died after swallowing a toxic chemical related to a ₦1.2 million debt.
According to reports, the debt was owed to a livestock supplier in Anambra State’s Dunukofia Local Government Area, Umunnachi.
A police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the incident happened on Friday, August 23, 2024.
Because of his financial difficulties, John, a 27-year-old resident of Umunnachi from Isielu LGA in Ebonyi State, had taken the poisonous chemical in a desperate attempt to end his life.
Through WhatsApp, he had communicated his plan and the hefty debt of 1.2million was getting to him.
After getting the distress call, the cops arrived quickly, saving John and offering emergency medical attention.
After that, he was in safe custody to get additional monitoring and assistance.
Anambra Police saved a young man who was attempting suicide on August 23, 2024. He received medical attention, was given a debriefing, and was placed under close observation.
The young man, later identified as Alozie John “m,” a 27-year-old resident of Umunnachi, Dunukofia LGA, Ebonyi State, drank a poisonous substance in hopes of dying because he owed his livestock product supplier one million two hundred thousand Naira. The WhatsApp message was intercepted during the exchange.
The police spokeswoman was reported as explaining, “He further confessed that he deals with selling live chicken and after he took the harmful chemical did not feel otherwise.”
But John’s mother has been notified, and she is helping the cops take care of him right now. She is making arrangements for his transfer to a better hospital so that he can receive all-encompassing care.
The authorities are keeping a careful eye on his condition and making sure he gets the assistance he needs.
